"Additional Discussion and Contemplation"
The Wake Public School System Board of Education has tabled the revision of policy 6860 which could impact future athletic participation at early colleges. They will be voting on February 7, 2017 to seek a waiver to exclude two never schools, The FLEX Academy and the North Wake CTE School. The PTSA has confirmed with two WCPSS BoE members that the vote on Tuesday will have nothing to do with any early college that currently has athletic participation.
These schools recruited based and enrolled students that were aware of the no athletic policy.
We will stay on top of this issue and were told by one Board of Education member that "additional discussion and contemplation" were needed prior to making any sort of decision. We are very optimistic that more investigation and discussion will lead to the BoE assuring our future leaders athletic opportunities.
Please keep speaking to your representatives and your neighbor as well. Please get your sons involved, nothing speaks to our outstanding school as our outstanding young men. Putting speeches online and sending links to the BoE members is an idea we discussed, good old fashion letter writing is strong and emails are great as well.
Anyone who watched the Super Bowl last evening has to agree athletics and leadership go hand in hand.

Graduation class meeting - 2/16/17. Discussion had been about a breakfast, will need to further explore as it relates to a fee to be charged. Won’t charge a fee if not going to do breakfast.
Charlotte Hornets Basketball Game vs. Washington Wizards March 18, 2017. The Wake Young Womens Leadership Academy and the boys school can purchase tickets to the game, we will have a blocks of seats depending on your level and I heard there is an amazing prize for the school that sells the most tickets....
